Introducing Successor Service Dog Kiltie
Many folks know me but can you really
comprehend what it means to have a service dog in your life?
I had the honor to be the graduate
speaker at the Dawgs in the Ruff charity golf tournament in October
2003. I tried to verbalize my feelings about my service dog at the time,
Shelby. Click the next link to read the text of the speech.
What
does it mean to have a service dog?
Obviously, I am very passionate about my
relationship with Shelby and the wonderful organization that provides
these dogs, Canine Companions for Independence (CCI). In turn, I'll try
to bring out your passion for dogs, or helping people, or just being
good folks.
CCI is a non-profit organization that
provides assistance dogs for people with disabilities other than
blindness. They do not charge for the dogs and are dependent upon the
generosity of individuals and organizations. If you have been touched by
what you have read and wish to help support their efforts, you can donate
online or send checks directly to CCI at: Post Office Box 446 Santa
Rosa, CA 95402-0446
Now that Shelby
has passed on, Kiltie has stepped up to the plate.
Though she is gone, her story still
lives on. You can peruse Shelby's take on being a
service dog.
Back when I was learning to do computer
graphics, my first project was to add a face to a certain famous
mountain. Check it out.
